About Velpen Trucking & Disposal

In the summer of 1992, Roger Schmitt walked through his 130-acre piece of property surveying the year's corn crop. Compared to other corn fields, Roger's ground was not producing as expected. "The crops were really bad that year because the ground would not hold the moisture, " he said. "That's how I got the idea of creating a construction and demolition landfill."

After six long years of working through various permitting agencies and engineering firms, it became a reality in November 1998. Velpen C&D Landfill was formed and soon after came Velpen Trucking & Disposal.
